The recordings below of 160m signals were made on 21 October 2018.

This was during the Pre Stew Perry contest. The unusual situation this morning was that signals never dissappeared after sunrise. Quite the contrary, many stations from NA not heard before started to pop out of the noise. An not just pop out of the noise - some were peaking 599 at times, like NA7TB, K0RF and AA0RS. Even if the last recording was made at 09.00 GMT (11.00 local) NA signals were heard well in to the afternoon.

This is pretty similar to how conditions were during the previous solar minimum in 2009-2011 at my location 65.4N in latitude.

If conditions during the Pre Stew are a "pre sense" of what conditions will be like when the Top Band season really takes off in mid November - this is a good sign!

All signals are received on an FT1000MP MkV with a K9AY loop array + a 2N5179 preamp.

Enjoy!
